The choices you make in the first days can protect both your health and your claim. A short guide:
- See a doctor without waiting. Some injuries take days to appear, and early medical records connect your condition to what happened.
- Let your own insurer know promptly after a motor vehicle accident. Several of the deadlines that follow are counted in days.
- Write down and photograph what happened while it is fresh, and collect the names and numbers of any witnesses.
- Keep every document, including prescriptions, receipts, and any letters or denial notices from the insurer.
- Take your time before signing. You are entitled to legal information before giving a recorded statement or signing a release.

The first consultation is free. After that we work on a contingency-fee basis, so you do not pay legal fees unless your claim succeeds. The percentage is agreed in writing before we begin, and the agreement also explains how disbursements are handled.
Is there a time limit on making a claim?
Yes. Ontario sets time limits on injury claims, and a few of them are much shorter than the general rule, some counted in days. The limit depends on the type of claim and your dates, so it is best to ask early.
